Export control uncertainty takes different forms.

  • “We are not confident that our products are classified correctly.”

Every export requires us to determine whether an item is controlled and whether an authorisation is required. But classification is not always clear. If we get the classification wrong, every decision that follows may also be wrong.

  • “We buy components in the US and do not know what that means for our own exports.”

We know that US export controls can continue to apply to products outside the United States. But determining when those rules apply to our products, and what we need to do as a result, is difficult.

  • “We are often unsure whether we are making the right decision.”

Many export control decisions leave us with uncertainty, and there is not always someone available to give us a clear second opinion. So we either delay the decision or accept risks we would rather understand properly.

  • “We cannot keep up with all the changes.”

New sanctions, control-list changes and new US rules appear constantly. We know we should be following them, but day-to-day operations leave little time to determine what actually matters for our business.

  • “We do not know whether our export control setup still fits our business.”

Processes, responsibilities and tools have developed over time. But nobody has stepped back to assess whether the current setup still reflects the business today, or where important gaps may exist.

A straightforward way to work together.

Start with a focused conversation, establish what is needed, and build the right level of support from there.

  1. 01

    Understand the matter

A 45-minute initial call covers the issue, the business context and what is actually needed. After the call, an initial view of the scope and an estimate of the time required.

  2. 02

    Assess the current position

A review of the relevant trade activities, products, processes and responsibilities. The scope follows the matter: one specific question, or a broader part of the export control setup.

  3. 03

    Develop the right solution

The appropriate level of support, from focused advice on a single matter to a trade compliance programme built around the organisation and its actual risk profile.

Many matters need nothing more than a clear answer to one question. The engagement is scaled to the matter, not the other way around.

Clarity for complex export control matters.

Hi, I’m Thomas. My background includes aircraft maintenance, international law, export compliance and programme work in aviation and defence, including the A400M, Eurofighter, FCAS and the Lockheed Martin P-3C.

I have always enjoyed understanding difficult subjects and explaining them in a way that makes sense to others. Export control gives me plenty of opportunity to do exactly that.

The rules can be complex. What matters to me is helping people understand what they mean for their products, their work and the decisions they have to make.

That was an important reason for founding Andoia. I wanted to combine technical export control knowledge with something I have always valued personally. Taking something complicated, making it understandable and helping someone use that understanding with confidence.

When a difficult question comes up, I want my clients to understand where they stand and what they can do next.

I look forward to speaking with you.
Thomas
